Context & Environment

There is no equivalent project of such an industrial drilling magnitude in a remote and sensitive area within the Company today. The Tilenga oilfields are partly situated in a protected National Park, partly beneath the river Nile wetlands area, and within densely populated area in a rural and remote part of Uganda. Activities exposed to the risk of major incidents with severe potential consequences due to local environment and important presence of NGO’s. Factory Drilling with a well delivered every 4 days using 3 drilling rigs simultaneously will necessitate standardization of equipment and procedures, strict enforcement of Drilling & Well instructions, safe and efficient logistic management on site. The project is focused on delivering the lowest possible cost, which requires challenging TotalEnergies design concepts as well as substantially challenging the TotalEnergies referential. Heavy and waxy oils will be produced from 29 well pads, (with 9 located in a national park) and treated in a Production Center of 200,000bopd oil capacity and 650,000 bwpd of water treatment capacity. Reservoir pressure maintenance is ensured either by water injection and by polymer water injection depending on the reservoir’s characteristics. The project also includes an extended interconnecting network with temperature preservation. LPG extraction, storage and tankers loading facilities are part of the CPF facilities.
Multicultural environment Ugandan rules and regulations, administrative requirements and technical authorizations as well as international codes for onshore plant will apply. Due to staggered development potentially on CPF, and definitely on well pads and considering sensitive operation of Electric Submersible Pumps for Production wells, it is expected that SIMOPS (Operations vs Construction, Operations versus Drilling.
– Workover) will occur on CPF , and regularly on Well pads.
Activities
-
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and operate DCS other CRO interfaces: Oversee processes to ensure safe and stable processing ongoing including well production and injection, process and utilities.
- Clearly understand process and function of all equipment of operation. Understand and be able to act immediately as soon as an abnormality is identified. Follow instructions and procedures from engineering and management.
- Well performance and ESP (ESCPC) operation: Manage ESP and well operations, understand process and be able troubleshoot well operations when required. Sand, wax and hard sediments management in wells. Gas and water management in a well. Analize and take decisions to take safe ESP and well operations. Adjust well and ESP (ESCPC) parameters as soon as deviation is identified. Offer better regime for wells.
- Identify abnormalize of operating parameters. Manage and adjust process parameters in real-time to ensure operations align with safety guidelines and production process. Implement recommendation of engineering and supervising.
- Work closely with production and well performance team for strictly following instructions. Act immediately as soon as unnormalize to identify. Ensuring shortfalls are minimized both production and injection targets.
- Provide strictly export nomination as approved. Act immediately as soon as unnormalize to identify.
- Start-up well pads and CPF: Start process in first oil and after shutdowns. Lead wells start-up after drilling and work over as same as after dewaxing and others well interventions. Implement clean up and adjust well operation parameters safely.
- React immediately in case of emergency. Be sure that the system works properly and safely. Understand all safety equipment in operations and operate it in case of process safety incidents include integrity failure.
- Ensures correct follow up of defined mitigation measures mentioned in PTW and Job Safety Analysis. Implement inhibitions for the jobs and reinstate them according to the work management system.
- Follow all safety protocols and operational guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Report any safety issues or unusual conditions immediately.
- Work closely with production operators of CPF and Well Pads. Assigning tasks and coordinating activities to maintain efficient workflow.
- Prepare regular production reports. Maintain logs and ensure all is accurate and up to date.
- Identify unnormal behavior of operating equipment and prepare notifications for MNT. Keep informed Prod SPV. Also, offer new solutions for the operation and process, get information for request for modification.
- Lessons Learned System: Participate in Lesson Learned System. Register new events properly with corrective mitigations.
Leadership
- Act as a technical leader on site for site operators and share information you have with colleagues.
