This role is responsible in assisting the Civil Engineer in the design, construction, maintenance and management of Infrastructure at Kansanshi Mining Plc. Areas of responsibility including the Kansanshi Mine, and all areas that fall under the jurisdiction of Facilities of the department; Facilities & Services.
Key Responsibilities
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
- Inspect, maintain, supervise Civil and Construction work on sites to ensure that work is done according to specifications,
- Prepare and/or review plans, specifications, for construction and Civil works,
- Preparing schedules, work progress, production and other reports (Ms Project, Primavera or similar)
- Supervise and monitor the site labour force and the work of any subcontractors.
- Liase with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, Quantity Surveyors and the general workforce.
- Understanding of design and as-built drawings of Civil infrastructure
- Setup a certification system for construction quality control
- Allocating resources, transport & materials, sub-contractors and other staff
- Supervision and implementation of all projects to Architectural & Engineered plans
- Responsible for projects costs, cost control, waste control and daily time management
- Meets construction budget against expenditures
- Ensuring all safety procedures are enforced on site
- Updates job knowledge with emerging construction practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities
- Other duties as directed by the Superintendent
Qualifications
- Grade 12 School certificate or Ordinary level certificate and
- Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering or related course from a recognized Institution.
Experience
- At least two years of working experience in Construction and/or Mining Industry
- Good knowledge of building construction in regards to Civils & Steel portal Frames and general maintenance
- Good knowledge of safe operation of concrete mixers, basic hand and power tools
- Good knowledge of work place safety including safe handling and lifting procedures

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- MS office proficient (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Proficient in 3D modelling of building and civil engineering structures with Building Information Modeling Software (e.g. Autodesk AutoCAD, Archicad, Revit, or similar sofware)
- Understanding of Zambian building regulations and requirements.
- Strong understanding of Civil engineering and construction standards.
- Membership to a professional body (EIZ)
- Valid Silicosis certificate
- GRZ driving licence
