Key Responsibilities 1.Leadership & Coordination a) Supervise a multidisciplinary laboratory team and foster a culture of quality, accountability, and scientific excellence.
b) Track project timelines and ensure the successful execution of laboratory deliverables across studies.
1. Provide technical assistance and guidance to implementing teams and external stakeholders. 2.Operations Management a) Coordinate daily laboratory activities, ensuring compliance with SOPs, GCLP, and safety regulations.
b) Oversee procurement, inventory, and maintenance of reagents and equipment. c) Ensure data integrity, security, and traceability across all assays.
d) Lead or participate in assay optimization for priority pathogens.
3.Quality, Compliance & Safety
a) Uphold internal and external regulatory standards, including IATA, IRB, and national biosafety guidelines.
b) Maintain accreditation status and ensure continuous participation in External Quality Assurance (EQA) schemes. c) Conduct regular safety training, enforce compliance protocols, and maintain audit readiness.
4.Capacity Building & Documentation a) Develop and review SOPs, training manuals, and orientation materials for new staff and trainees.
b) Mentor junior staff and support ongoing professional development.
c) Lead internal refresher and certification training in GCLP, GCP, IATA, and laboratory biosafety. Minimum Qualifications a) Bachelor’s degree in biomedical laboratory technology or related field (MSc is an added advantage).
b) At least 3 years in a supervisory laboratory role with GCLP oversight.
c) Credit passes in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics at UCE and UACE.
d) Demonstrated experience in ELISA, neutralisation assays, biosafety, and sample shipment, competency in Microsoft Office and basic statistics.
