QUALIFICATIONS/ KNOWLEDGE
Post-graduate qualification in Public Health/International Development or in the Social Sciences, and/or equivalent experience.
Understanding of HIV and the impacts of the epidemic on adolescents and young people in an African context Knowledge of the socio-economic and political realities of HIV work particularly in Sub Saharan Africa Understanding of civil society work in the African context
EXPERIENCE
Demonstrable relevant experience in managing contracts and delivering programmes in an African context.
Experience of working in an International NGO. Significant experience in a relevant area of HIV/AIDS
programming, including in a specific technical area eg. Adolescents and young people, SRHR and/or gender.
Demonstrated experience of working with civil society sector and in consortia management, in the African context.
Demonstrated experience of managing multi country and multimillion US$ budget.
Demonstrated experience in developing funding proposals and reporting to a variety of donors.
Experience of line management of employees / consultants.
Demonstrated experience of management and development of donor relations.
Proven strategic planning and analytical skills demonstrated in a development context.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
Strong technical skills in community based HIV and AIDS programme and project management.
High level of computer literacy (primarily in Microsoft Office packages).
Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating high levels of personal integrity and professional credibility.
Able to build strong and credible relationships with all stakeholders including donors, consortia partners, implementing partners and young people Able to motivate and build an effective team
