As a member of PTML Management team, the Leaf Buyer shall be responsible for Leaf procurement and sale management. The incumbent will be reporting to the Head of Leaf Sales.

Key Performance Areas:

TOBACCO PROCUREMENT

• Valuation of green
• Buys green tobacco on both auction and contract markets
• Allocation of Tobacco into relevant customer grades in line with customer allocation policy
• Liaison with grower’s representatives/associations on emerging issues required for orderly marketing of green

SALE MANAGEMENT

• Analysis, monitoring and evaluation of daily market trends in relation to buying policy
• Controls the quality standards of purchases through inspection of green deliveries both on
  the floors and warehouses
• Monitors intake and usage of tobacco in various customer accounts.

PROCESSING

• Monitors and ensures that the quality of the processed product and customer technical
  specifications are achieved at the time of processing
• Recommends to the processing team remedial solutions for consistent production standards

CUSTOMER ACCOUNT ADMINISTRATION

• Preparation of costing, pricing and offers for customers
• Monitors customer packing
• Checks and evaluates that the required customer quality and technical specifications are being
  achieved
• Coordinating information and data gathering to ensure continuous feedback to the customer and management on the product status

STAKEHOLDERS’ RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT 

• Crop forecast and projections
• Gathering of crop intelligence to build on company annual crop throw
• Manages the dissemination of information to stakeholders both internal and external on trade
  retirements relating to production and other emerging issues in the industry

Qualifications:

• Should be 30 – 45 years of age
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or its equivalent Experience:
• 5 years’ experience performing the above-mentioned Key Performance Areas (KPA) in a large organization.
