Main purpose of the job
To teach, supervise, promote research studies, disseminate research findings, and participate in Community Service.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparing lectures and conducting lectures to students.
- Conducting research and disseminate research findings.
- Supervising students undertaking research.
- Conducting seminars and tutorials
- Setting coursework, tests, and examinations according to the University standards.
- Administering coursework, as well as manage and invigilate tests, and examinations according to the University standards.
- Marking tests, examination scripts and compiling results according to approved grading standards of the University.
- Attending to students’ inquiries and academic issues.
- Performing any other official duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Person Specifications
Qualifications
- Should have a Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology or Masters in Biomedical Sciences.
- Possession of a PhD or being on PhD track in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology, will be an added advantage.
- Should hold a minimum of a Second Upper Bachelor’s (Hons) Degree in Medical Lab Science or Medical Lab Technology or Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB).
Experience and Competences
- Should have at least three (3) years of teaching experience at the level of Assistant Lecturer or possess three years hands on experience in lab practice.
- Having internationally recognized peer reviewed publications in the field of specialization, will be an added advantage.
- Should be computer literate and possess good communication skills.
- Implementation of a research project(s) as assistant PI or member of a research team is an added advantage.
- Registration with a professional body in the field of specialization is an added advantage.
