Dean School of Applied Sciences
Job Summary: To plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students of the MIHS School of Applied Health Sciences to fully develop skills and fulfill their academic potential. The job holder will also work as part of the team to ensure that the curriculum, as approved by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education and the affiliated Institutions, is delivered to the set standards of quality. The expected result is well-nurtured students who demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and academic excellence.
Position’s expected Key Result Areas:
- Develop and deliver course content, ensuring that the set curricula is offered at the highest standards, within the set time, and with appropriate learning/teaching methodologies to produce students with strong skills and academic excellence.
- Organize students’ assessments (formative and summative) and ensure timely marking and feedback utilization.
- Conduct mentorship and supervision of students to ensure the application of relevant theory to practice.
- Contribute to the marketing of the Institute to strengthen its positioning as a leading training institute in Nutrition & Dietetics in the region.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and a Master’s degree in the relevant field; plus, a postgraduate diploma or diploma in education. OR a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline with a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Lecturer in a recognized institution of higher learning, or 3 years of experience as a Nutritionist in a busy public health setting.
- Experience/knowledge of relevant MOH/MOES guidelines and policies.
- Ability to network and liaise with various partners.
