Job description

The Legal Consultant is responsible for leading the legal function of the organization, ensuring full compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and providing strategic legal support across all business units. This role involves managing legal risks, overseeing contract and transaction matters, supporting corporate governance, and implementing internal audit and compliance programs. The Legal Consultant also supervises legal staff and provides advisory services on labor, tax, procurement, real estate, and financial transactions while representing the company in legal proceedings and stakeholder engagements.

Responsibilities:

    • Contract management and corporate transaction matters: drafting, negotiating, reviewing and managing expiry and renewal of all contracts and other legal documents.
    • Procurement matters: Review and advise on tenders, pre-qualifications. And other related documents including preparation of procurement award letters.
    • Labour law & Human Resource support: Advise on labour & employment matters; sitting in on disciplinary hearings as required by the company.
    • Board secretarial services: Handling corporate governance matters & registration of company documents.
    • Compliance & regulatory services: filing & registration of documents; processing business licenses. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
    • Legal support to the Company’s projects: Advisory on project planning; project related diligences; monitoring local compliance requirements.
    • Implementation of CFAO Group Compliance Programmes (Anti-fraud/Anti-bribery) & Anti-Corruption program among any other applicable laws/regulations that may affect CFAO’s business.
    • Tax advisory: Legal advisory on tax issues affecting the company; advising on tax trends that affect CFAO’s business.
    • Stakeholder engagement: Representing the company at meetings with stakeholders/business partners/tax authorities etc
    • Real estate transactions/advisory on business

Qualifications:

  • Relevant legal qualification
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of labor, tax, procurement, and real estate laws
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
