To support the company’s legal and Investor relations functions, handle drafting and review of contracts to ensure that the company functions in compliance with its legal and regulatory framework while meeting its business goals.
Key Result Areas:
- Ensure legal compliance and interactive communication between the Company and shareholders. Attend to shareholder queries, manage dividend payments, coordinate AGM, liaise with registrars, brokers, and regulators, and update the online shareholder page.
- Draft and review contracts to minimize legal risk and support sound business practices. Advise on legal matters during contract negotiations.
- Collaborate with user departments to maintain a contracts log for centralized document management and follow-up.
- Ensure legal compliance with company media platforms. Facilitate smooth operations and quality service.
- Manage intellectual property registration, annual returns, and shareholder resolutions to ensure compliance and protect valuable assets.
- Represent the Company in court matters, including drafting pleadings, preparing witnesses, and conducting research. Mitigate litigation risks.
- Provide legal awareness training to staff to foster risk management and informed decision-making.
- Conduct compliance audits and reviews to enforce procedures and implement recommendations.
- Assist the Company Secretary in board activities, including meeting attendance, minute taking, decision follow-up, and report preparation for improved governance.
Education and Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
- Enrolled and Practicing Advocate of the Courts of Judicature in Uganda.
- ICSA qualification is an added advantage
Working Experience:
- At least two years’ work experience in a commercial organization of the size of New Vision or a reputable law firm handling commercial transactions.
