- • Assist the selection, acquisition, and cataloging of library materials, including books, journals, digital resources, and multimedia items.
- • Collect user need assessment to improve the collection library service.
Cataloging and Classification:
- • Assisting the process of Creating and maintaining accurate records of library materials using cataloging software (koha) and standardized classification systems.
- • Organize materials based on genres, subjects, and other categorizations to facilitate easy retrieval.
- • Encoding every records of library collection to the system.
Digital Resource Management:
- • Assisting for capturing digital resources, including e-books, online databases, and multimedia content.
- • Assist patrons to troubleshoot technical issues related to online databases and e-books.
Library Services Assistance:
- • Assist patrons with locating and accessing materials, providing research assistance, and supporting reference inquiries.
- • Provide Assistance for the implementation of library policies, procedures, and the use of library equipment.
Library Environment Maintenance:
- • Ensure the library space is clean, organized, and conducive to study and research.
- • Follow up and replenish supplies such as stationery, reading materials, and library equipment.
- • Ensure day to day shelf reading
Inventory Management: Assist regular inventory checks to track the availability and condition of library materials.
Library Outreach and Events: : Assist library events, book displays, and reading programs to promote library services and engage patrons.
Requirements
Education and Work Experience:
- • Diploma or bachelor’s in library and information science, Computer science, Information Communication Technology, Information Management.
- • 3 years and Diploma | 1 years and bachelor’s in assistant library custodian and related job positions
Knowledge:
- • Basic knowledge of library management software (koha), cataloging systems, and digital resource platforms.
- • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing library collections and resources.
- • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to assist diverse patrons.
- • Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in library services and information management.
- • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- • Ethical mindset with a commitment to patron privacy, confidentiality, and intellectual freedom.
