We are a seeking a Literacy Program Officer to be responsible for overall coordination of our educational programs and curriculum including working with our partners and schools to train teachers, manage after-school programs, as well as support financial and administrative reporting.
The Literacy Program Officer will report to the Program manager.
Key Functions and Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day coordination of the TLF reading clubs in program schools.
- Train and supervise teacher librarians
- Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports
- Ensure project activities comply with the policies and regulations of the organization.
- Ensures close collaboration and coordination with cooperating partners
- Monitor reading clubs and collect and report data on student progress
- Support the program manager on the design and delivery of teacher training workshops
- Employ resourcefulness in project design, implementation, and monitoring.
- Trouble shoots project problems. Identifies and implements creative solutions.
Literacy Program Officer
Qualification, skills and attributes
- Education: Diploma or degree in Language Arts, English, Library Studies or related field
- Work Experience: At least one (1) year work experience, preferably at an NGO, or Educational setting.
- Languages: Fluent in English
- Other skills:
- Experience training adults
- Strong Background in Education and or project management preferred.
Great communication (written and oral) skills
Good computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
Ability to work independently
