Summary
- The Livelihood Officer will, in consultation with the Project Manager, plan and take the lead in the effective execution of the livelihood-related project activities for the program as outlined in the project proposal, which includes but is not limited to skills, practices and capacities geared towards enhancing Improved low carbon, climate resilient economies in Kitui Rural, Kitui County-Kenya for enhanced well-being of communities, especially women, girls, and other vulnerable groups.
- The Officer will be responsible for planning and implementing all program activities related to enhancing climate-resilient livelihoods in targeted landscapes, based on the sustainable use of biodiversity, especially for women, girls, and other vulnerable groups.
Specific Tasks
General Tasks:
- Monitor and support timely and appropriate utilisation of budgeted resources for related project interventions and ensure effective and timely response plans.
- Take the lead in community mobilisation and sensitisation as per the planned livelihood-related project activities.
- Work closely with key stakeholders and community members in the establishment of beneficiary targeting criteria as well as identifying various vulnerable groups, disaggregating these groups on gender and age and developing a detailed beneficiary database.
- Compile monthly, quarterly and annual reports as per donor guidelines and ADRA Policy.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to design appropriate training curricula as per the need and targeted training modules.
- Coordinate with the Project manager to ensure that appropriate controls, monitoring and evaluation tools are in place and utilised promptly in the implementation process.
- Contribute to the practical and timely implementation of all project livelihood activities.
- Fostering partnerships and networks with stakeholders. e.g. the government ministries, relevant civil society organisations and community-based groups.
- Prepare articles, stories and photographs that can be used to enhance the project’s image.
Other Tasks:
- Provide support in project communication to ensure that all stakeholders are informed on an ongoing basis about the project’s objectives and activities, overall project progress, and opportunities for involvement in various aspects of the project’s implementation.
- Ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are informed, aware of and supportive of the project goals and activities, and ADRA Kenya at large
- Ensuring that all project targets are met within the set timelines
- Reports delivered on time and in excellent quality and that all project inputs and activities are adequately documented and accounted for
- Conduct engagement activities with local, regional, and national stakeholders forpolicy change and impacts on the ground
- Perform other duties as deemed relevant to the assignment and advancement ofthe project objective by the supervisor
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agroforestry/Environmental studies, horticulture and project management or any other related area.
Experience
- At least three (3) years experience in project implementation, management, focusing on dryland farming in ASALs, and documentation of lessons from project interventions.
- A good understanding of the social-economic and environmental dynamics of the ASAL counties of Kenya, particularly Kitui County
