Key Responsibilities:
Purpose of the position:
The Livelihoods Program Officer will be responsible for the overall implementation of Youth Livelihoods interventions targeting Adolescent Girls and Young Women. This position will assist with the strategic positioning and development of the livelihood component by supporting and facilitating AGYW linkage to comprehensive livelihoods interventions including vocational training, sustainable employment opportunities and business startup interventions provided by the project.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for facilitating direct field level implementation of youth livelihoods interventions, including identification and enrolment of DREAMS beneficiaries and supporting their linkage to high impact youth livelihoods interventions, and other health and social services.
2. Conduct and sustain community and stakeholder relationships in collaboration with the Community Leadership Engagement Officer, HIV Prevention POs, OVC POs and Case Workers to ensure project ownership amongst beneficiaries.
3. Provide direct supervision to Business Mentors to ensure adherence to model fidelity in the delivery of livelihoods interventions. This includes training, coaching and mentoring of Business Mentors for quality service delivery.
4. Work closely with the Strategic Information Unit to identify AGYW that have participated in skills building and business mentorship program and are eligible for high impact livelihoods interventions.
5. Support AGYW that are eligible for high impact livelihoods interventions with the development of comprehensive plans to advance their plans around securing employment, vocational and business start-up opportunities.
6. Provide coaching and mentoring for a period of six months for high impact beneficiaries post receiving startup support.
7. Facilitate comprehensive quality data flow, reflection and adaptation of approaches in the field
8. Collect feedback through monthly meetings, beneficiary engagements and through routine monitoring visits to inform real time program improvements.
9. Capture and document field dynamics, impact stories and lessons learnt
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
- Minimum Qualification required: A Degree Business Management/Agricultural Economics or any other related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum two years’ experience in project implementation youth livelihoods programs under HIV programing.
- Facilitating community interventions and stakeholder engagement
- Experience in facilitating HIV prevention trainings and working with AGYW
- Experience in implementing USAID/ PEPFAR Funded project
- Experience running own income generating activity an added advantage.
