The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure within
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical System Maintenance:
- Plan, execute, and oversee preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of all electrical systems, including generators, motors, switchgear, transformers, and control systems.
- Monitor and evaluate electrical equipment performance to identify areas for improvement.
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Diagnose electrical faults, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure timely repairs and restoration of systems.
Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all electrical systems comply with local and international standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Prepare and update technical documentation, including maintenance logs, procedures, and inspection reports.
Project Management:
- Participate in the design, installation, and commissioning of new electrical equipment and systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on engineering projects to ensure successful implementation within budget and timeline.
Energy Efficiency and Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to enhance energy efficiency and implement cost-effective solutions.
- Propose and execute initiatives to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprints
Team Leadership and Training:
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
- Organize training sessions to enhance the technical skills and knowledge of the maintenance team.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
- Promote a culture of safety by ensuring all maintenance activities adhere to HSE standards and practices.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards.
Knowledge & Skills Required
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems used in oil and gas facilities, including HV/LV distribution, electrical protection systems, and instrumentation.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for complex electrical systems.
- Ability to analyze technical data and operational trends to optimize system performance.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a high- pressure environment.
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical information clearly to diverse teams.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Comprehensive understanding of HSE principles and their application to electrical maintenance.
- Ability to enforce a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical maintenance in line with knowledge of various types of electrical motor, control system, switch gear etc.
- Professional certifications such as COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria), NSE (Nigerian Society of Engineers), or equivalent international certifications (e.g., IEEE, IET).
- Advanced knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, NEC).Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and other relevant software.
