Core purpose of the job:

  • To enhance the reputation of MTN through proactive and consistent stakeholder management.
  • To promote the image of the company by effectively positioning MTN through marketing communications in all media channels.
  • To manage, co-ordinate and control the internal and external communication activities in line with the local and Group policies and procedures and to the standard required of national and international media.

Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote Ambition 2025 internally and externally
  • Drive the Good Together strategic intent
  • Partner to drive superior customer experience to improve Net Promoter Score
  • Drive stakeholder value through positioning the ESG (environmental, social and governance) initiatives.
  • Engaging with policy drivers such as government, regulators, and other corporates to identify synergies across social, economic and business boundaries.
  • Need to drive reliable, credible and professional external and internal communication from MTN.
  • Fast changing dynamics and communicative requirements.
  • The post of Manager, Corporate Affairs & Sustainability includes managing public relations and stakeholder management, including media and ESG programs.
  • The role holder’s specific areas of focus are listed below:
    • Responsible for managing external communications and serving as the primary media contact.
    • Responsible for managing internal communication and supporting the CEO and EXCO.
    • Managed sustainability efforts, ESG programs, and reporting.
      Managing implementation of MTN Foundation projects.
  • Assist the Head of Corporate Services with stakeholder engagement.
    Facilitate development and implementation of stakeholder engagement strategy
  • Develop a media engagement plan to better position the brand in the market and enhance relationships
  • Collaborate in driving marketing communications to deliver commercial objectives
  • Develop a communication strategy to position MTN Foundation in the market
  • Develop and implement internal communication strategy to drive the employee value proposition
  • Provide communication support and partner with internal stakeholders to drive communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Responsible for establishing and nurturing positive working relationships with members of the media
  • To act as the key contact and spokesperson for the business
  • Facilitate media training for staff who represent the business in external communication
  • Partner with CeX to drive customer engagement and education
  • To ensure implementation and adherence to the Communication Policy
  • Initiate, research, write and drive credible media releases to take advantage of national and international opportunities.
  • Research, write and compile articles for Group newsletters
  • Ensure quarterly production of the internal newsletter
  • Analyze and report on media exposure and competitive trends and opportunities.
  • Research and compile reports for Group sustainability reports
  • Design and collate information for MTN webpage and social media sites
  • Managed media database and key media stakeholder interest groups

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor of Bachelor’s Degree: Marketing / Communications/ Public Relations /
  • Postgraduate/Honours

Experience:

  • At least 5 years corporate experience, with at least 3 years at a management level. Must have cross functional experience within a corporate environment
  • Knowledge of the telecommunication industry an added advantage
