Key Responsibilities

Purpose

The KM and Research Coordinator sits within the Programme Effectiveness Portfolio which employs the use of traditional and digital learning approaches to develop and implement innovative, creative, and effective ways to strategically capture and share technical knowledge, leverage good practices, and improve the effectiveness of development programs in World Vision Ghana. The staff will be responsible for a wide variety of activities related to identifying, managing, packaging, and disseminating key information to advance technical practice and provide practitioners with the tools they need to conduct better development work. Specifically, the KM Specialist will lead and support learning events, conduct research, produce resources and guidance, and facilitate ongoing content development and engagement

Manage WVG Program and Project Management Information System (Horizon Reimagine) and all KM repositories

Liaise with Regional and Global focal persons to ensure WVG system is functioning

Ensure that Program and Project Planning documents are on Horizon Reimagine

Periodic building of staff capacity on all Horizon Reimagine components together with the primary implementing Department or Units- RAM Unit, Programmes and Sponsorship

Improve the use of country data on the systems to generate reports and strategic analysis

Ensure the optimize use of WVG WV Central page

Enhance the development and maintenance of information systems (Horizon, WV Central, etc.) in collaboration with IT specialists.

Coordinate WVG research

Support content to writing of research grant proposals, budget narratives, institutional review board (IRB) research proposals, and research reports.

Compiles processes and analyzes data; records research procedures and results; files and maintains records; codes data for input for electronic data processing; inputs and retrieves data using computers.

Monitor research plans and implementation

Coordinate and support feasibility studies and assessments

Document findings of research at conferences or in published articles under the guidance of the Senior Programme Effectiveness Manager

Develop and maintain research databases

Build networks with educational and research institutions to undertake research relating to CWB

Work with WV Learning Centers and Communities of Practice to support the NO to carry out research that supports child well-being monitoring and reporting.

Strategic Technical Leadership in developing, reviewing and implementing Knowledge Management Strategy, guidelines and Policies.

  • In collaboration with Regional Knowledge Management, Senior Programme Effectiveness Manager and Technical Leads, take lead in developing and implementing Knowledge Management Technical Approach in line with national, regional and partnership strategic direction.
  • Document and share learning – ensure requirements, lessons learned, and best practices for approaches, models, events, and other knowledge management activities are clear and documented
  • Provide technical leadership in the implementation and integration of KM business plan within the thematic areas of WVG Strategy in collaboration with Technical Leads
  • Lead the review and socialization of KM policy and business plan across all programs and projects in the NO
  • Develop strategic relationships with learning institutions and professional bodies for purposes of learning and documentation of best practices
  • Represent WVG in strategic KM coordination forums at the national and international level
  • Ensure staff are aware of KM resources available to support their work and are using it the system efficiently and productively to share knowledge
  • Provide a one-stop-shop of needed evidence of WVG Initiatives to support donor and partner engagements.
  • Work closely with the Communications and RAM Units to promote WVG externally

Capacity building of Staff in Knowledge management and Research

Develop reflection tools, processes and coach staff on how to conduct reflect

Support the capacity of building staff of to capture and analyze data and their use in decision-making

Support development of staff, consultants and key partners and collaborators to become “knowledge professionals” through learning and reflections opportunities to ensure a pipeline of professional expertise and advice on all aspects of knowledge management as required

Ensure staff participate and contribute in relevant communities of practice

Support the management of PEU Plans

Assist development of department plans and budgets, preparing progress reports, and liaising with key stakeholders

Report and analyze information on the progress of the department plans

Developing a coordinated PE key events and supporting its implementation by following up with the responsible staff and supporting planning of the events.

Organizing, coordinating, preparing agenda, and taking minutes of PE management weekly and quarterly meetings and follow up of implementation of key action points and decisions in a timely manner.

Plan and manage the documentation process of key PE events and information/ report dissemination.

Attend and participate/lead in daily devotions and weekly Chapel services.

Strong understanding of transformational development and frameworks.

Strong communicator at all levels with interpersonal skills, ability and commitment to listen to others

Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

Bachelor degree with 5 years’ experience in a field of Social Sciences and/or Humanities or Master’s Degree with 3 years.

Demonstrated understanding of knowledge management principles and capacity to deliver knowledge management and/or organizational learning activities

Working knowledge of the research principles, technical methods and processes used to conduct a systematic and objective inquiry including methods of data entry, collection and analysis, and summarizing and reporting results; working knowledge of statistics and related information technology.

Possesses a satisfactory level of technical skill or knowledge in in social development area and keeps up with current developments and trends in area(s) of research

Experience in Data base management

High-level conceptual and analytical skills.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Very strong relational and communication skills.

Commitment to World Vision mission and partnership values and sensitivity to its various expressions across cultures and denominations.

Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.

Must have knowledge in computer applications like MS Office and data base management

Working Environment / Conditions

Work environment: Office Based with some amount of travel

Travel: 30%

On call: 30%
