KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Information and Communications
- Produce accurate, clear, and consistent information and communication outputs relating to the project—including key messages, Q&As, internal email updates, factsheets, and reactive lines for media and advocacy work.
- Oversee and act as a focal point for all visit requests to the project sites, coordinating approval of requests and ensuring visitors adhere to the visits protocol.
- Work with the ACCM director to ensure the media and advocacy response strategies are carried out in line with the country strategic plan.
- Ensure all information for external use presents accurate information and appropriate images and does not put Save the Children unnecessarily at risk.
- Available for travel to the field sites to collect case studies and undertake photography commissions and case studies.
- Collaborate with media and advocacy colleagues to ensure core messaging is consistent when being shared externally.
- Manage the production of compelling photo stories, case studies, and audio-visual materials from the field to highlight Save the Children’s work, including the commissioning of photography and film when required and in line with Save the Children’s policies and procedures (all consent on file and available).
- Ensure branding and visibility in the materials.
- Determine how to use various different materials through different communications channels (print, web page, social media, radio, television).
- Evaluate results and impact of media and communications activities.
- Ensures adherence to policy and procedure and that the rights of families and children are respected in all materials produced and disseminated (voice, photo, video, written).
- Develop and disseminate communication products such as invitations and blogs as relevant.
Multimedia
- In coordination with the line manager, undertake multimedia commissions and produce content to accompany compelling case studies, particularly on our work around child protection, health and nutrition, food security and livelihoods, and education.
Capacity Building
- Build the capacity of partners, field staff, and interns in story gathering, photography, media training, and information management throughout the response.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in media, communications, journalism, social science, human rights, development or international relations with at least two years of similar experience in the field of expertise.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
- Proven experience of developing and managing the production of communications materials for INGOs or other similar organisations in emergencies and in humanitarian crises for a minimum of 2-3 years.
- Can produce accurate, clear and consistent information and communication outputs relating to both programme support and humanitarian situation – including key messages, Q&A’s and factsheets, case studies, press releases, media statements, briefs amongst others
- Evidence of excellent English verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of different audiences including donors, journalists and the ‘general public’. Ability to strategically target a wide range of audiences is essential.
- Deep understanding of the South Sudan Humanitarian Context.
- Excellent relationship building skills in order to work across all field offices
- Understanding how to manage strategic media engagement in politically sensitive environment.
- Experience in leading information and communication flows between emergency responses and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work with communities and partners to gather case studies, testimonies and information on the humanitarian situation and on programmes.
- Excellent IT skills, especially in Microsoft Word, technical aptitude in MS Office.
- An initiative-taking, proactive, inspiring attitude with the ability to manage and prioritise an unpredictable workload and solve problems quickly with limited support.
- Ability to fact check, proofread, edit and draft materials.
- The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult working circumstances.
