Job description

Alanyi HC IV, under the management of St. John XXIII Hospital Aber, is seeking a qualified and experienced Medical Officer to provide comprehensive healthcare services. The Medical Officer will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing illnesses while ensuring high-quality patient care. This role requires a dedicated professional who can work effectively in a rural healthcare setting with limited resources.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct clinical assessments, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.
  2. Perform ward rounds and ensure appropriate medical interventions.
  3. Provide emergency medical care, including first aid and minor surgical procedures.
  4. Oversee and coordinate maternal and child health services at the facility.
  5. Participate in disease prevention and health education programs for the community.
  6. Collaborate with healthcare teams, including nurses, midwives, and support staff, to deliver integrated care.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  8. Ensure compliance with medical protocols and ethical standards.
  9. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior healthcare workers and students.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
  • Registered and licensed with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Council.
  • At least 2 years of post-internship experience in a reputable health facility.
  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, and communication skills.
  • Experience working in a rural healthcare setting is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and in a resource-limited environment.
