The Institute of Development Management (IDM) recognizes the pivotal role that industry plays in shaping educational programmes, fostering innovation, and driving economic growth. With a commitment to excellence in education and a keen focus in preparing students for real-world challenges, the Institute prioritized excellence in teaching and learning through academia-industry engagements in the 2022 – 2027 strategic period. Based on such background, IDM is seeking industry experts to join our Industry Advisory Committee, which will provide a platform for industry engagement in programme development and review, industry-institute partnerships, workplace placements, etc.
The roles of the Industry Advisory Committee members are diverse and crucial in guaranteeing synergy of educational programmes with industry standards, trends, and requirements, and they will encompass the following:
- Strategic guidance: advise IDM strategically on developing, reviewing, and improving educational programmes and initiatives to ensure they meet industry demands effectively.
- Curriculum development: advise IDM faculty and staff on the review of curricula, courses, and learning outcomes to align with current industry standards and practices.
- Programme evaluation: contribute to regular assessment of educational programmes to measure their efficacy in preparing students for successful careers and to pinpoint areas for enhancement.
- Industry insights: contribute valuable expertise and perspectives on emerging trends, technological advancements, and best practices, guiding IDM’s decision-making.
- Networking and partnerships: cultivate networking avenues and establish partnerships between IDM and industry stakeholders, such as businesses, organizations, and professional associations, to facilitate work-integrated learning placements, as well as research collaboration opportunities for students and faculty.
- Professional development: aid in the professional growth of IDM faculty and staff by granting access to industry-specific capacity building programmes, workshops, and resources, ensuring that they stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
- Advocacy and promotion: act as IDM ambassadors, advocating for the value of IDM’s educational programmes, promoting student accomplishments, and bolstering the institution’s reputation and visibility.
- Feedback mechanism: act as a channel for input from industry stakeholders, such as employers, alumni, and professional associations, providing insights on the strengths and areas for enhancement of IDM’s educational programmes, facilities, and student outcomes.
