- To provide semi-skilled assistance including daily provision of lubes, fuel, grease, and inspection of heavy mining and auxiliary equipment to maintain high standard equipment health to effectively maintain mining / auxiliary equipment.
In This Role You Will:
Perform Maintenance Duties
- Perform daily servicing of heavy mining and auxiliary equipment using a service truck (740ADT, MAN Truck, Toyota 4×4 Truck).
- Assist and perform oil checks and oil changes on equipment.
- Use Forklifts, Telehandlers and other lifting devices to convey oils and lubes safely.
- Responsible for changing transmission oil and other fluids to maintain equipment or vehicle standard conditions.
- Maintain daily / shift service, fuel and lubes records, and provide information and recommendations about the equipment to Dispatchers and Supervisors.
- Perform routine checks, daily inspections, pressure / temperature checks and fluid levels maintenance service of all equipment including greasing of all available required greasing points, bearings and joints, and examine components joints.
- Provide daily distribution fuel to mining equipment as scheduled.
- Collaborate and follow daily schedule as directed by the Maintenance Dispatchers or Shift Supervisors.
- Perform daily inspection and report all defects on the service trucks for repairs and correction.
- Ensure service or lube trucks and its nozzles / Wiggins are always clean and in good condition to meet contamination control standards.
- Raise reservations for lubricants in SAP.
Health and Safety Management
- Comply with all Newmont and regulatory agency Health, Safety, Loss Prevention, and Environmental procedures, requirements, and standards.
- Operate in a safe manner and take steps to prevent minimal wear and tear and / or damage to equipment.
- Work without risk or harm to others.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety throughout all activities.
- Attend daily morning safety meetings, Process Safety Management (PSMs).
- Observe and adhere to all Fatality Risk Management (FRM) critical controls.
- Observe all exclusion zones in the pits as required by Geotechnical Team.
- Describe the safety precautions to be applied when working on hydraulic systems.
Your Trainings, Skills & Experience Checklist:
Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
- Completion of WASSCE or equivalent certificate or Mechanical Technician.
Additional Knowledge:
- General understanding of maintenance engineering.
- Have a Ghanaian License E and ability to operate Newmont CAT740 Lube truck, telehandler and forklift.
- Holder of valid Ghanaian driver’s license C is an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year mechanical and / or electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a mining or industrial environment.
Technical Skills:
- Basic communication (English written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and understand documentation.
