The Aga Khan University (AKU) invites applications for the following position based in Arusha, Tanzania:

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will develop and maintain an effective M&E system to track resources and outcomes, coordinating evaluations of Community Engagement programs at AKU-COC. She/he will also support program implementation within the COC.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and periodically review and revise an appropriate M&E system to ensure it is effectively adopted.
  • Provide relevant and timely M&E information to AKU management and the operations team in a user-friendly format.
  • Track and report challenges encountered in the field-by-field teams to management.
  • Collect data on all community and COC-based activities implemented by AKU’s team in its operational areas.
  • Attend and document meetings, training sessions, and workshops conducted in AKU’s operational area.
  • Compile and timely submit high quality monthly, quarterly, annual and other occasional reports. On community initiatives to the AKU Site Director.
  • Document both qualitative and quantitative impacts of the program on the people in AKU’s operational area.
  • Store and maintain all data collected in the field for future use in reviews and evaluations.
  • Identifying divergence from expected results and achievements against set targets at early stages for AKU to use data in a timely manner to guide programmatic decisions.
  • Documenting success stories and lesson learnt of the project within the specific reporting period.
  • Support the implementation of various programs and regular training at COC

Professional Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Community Development or a related field with relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant applications.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in the successful implementation of monitoring and evaluation in community development and life transformation initiatives.
  • Ability to effectively collect, analyse, interpret and use data.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build, develop, and maintain positive working relationships with management and team members.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and fluency in both English and Swahili.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • A results-oriented personality with a strong ability to track and document results.
  • Commitment and desire to engage with communities and support all groups involved in community work.
