The main objective of this project is to enhance the adaptive capacity of rural communities in dealing with climate impacts, not only by strengthening mitigation efforts but also by promoting sustainable practices that contribute to the restoration of degraded areas.
Specific Objectives:
1. To support communities in implementing targeted mitigation activities aimed at minimizing the impact of climate change.
2. To improve the adaptive capacity of communities in rural Zambia.
3. To improve the institutional capacity of government and traditional structures in climate mitigation and adaptation.
Description of Role: The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be based at the Lusaka office and will be responsible for designing and implementing the project’s monitoring and evaluation framework. They will collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness and impact of project interventions and ensure accountability and learning.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Monitoring and Evaluation Framework: Develop and implement a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation framework for the project, including indicators, data collection tools, and reporting mechanisms.
2. Data Collection and Analysis: Collect, manage, and analyze project data to track progress against targets and assess the effectiveness of project interventions.
3. Reporting: Prepare regular monitoring and evaluation reports for internal management and external stakeholders, highlighting key findings, trends, and lessons learned.
4. Capacity Building: Build the capacity of project staff and partners in monitoring and evaluation techniques and tools, ensuring a culture of data-driven decision-making.
5. Learning and Adaptation: Facilitate learning sessions and discussions to promote reflection and adaptive management, incorporating lessons learned into project design and implementation.
6. Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and integrity of project data through regular data verification and validation exercises.
7. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with project stakeholders, including beneficiaries, partners, and donors, to gather feedback and ensure their active participation in monitoring and evaluation activities.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in the development sector.
3. Proficiency in monitoring and evaluation methodologies, tools, and software.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
