The selected candidate will be responsible for the implementation of the WFP Gender Strategy and the Protection Strategy in support of WFP Operations in Cameroon, under the leadership of the Head of Unit.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
The Cameroon Cost of Hunger Study will strive to achieve, among others, the following objectives:
1. Harness high level political commitment and action for nutrition by informing national government, in particular the Ministries of Economic and Planning, and Finance, on the scale of current social and economic impact of child undernutrition.
2. Facilitate dialogue between the relevant government ministries, United Nations agencies, donors and international institutions and build on the comparative advantage of each organization in order to support African countries in their fight against child undernutrition.
3. Inform national policy on nutrition with a view to increase financing for nutrition.
4. The study also builds national capacity to analyze existing national data to estimate the burden on the economic resulting from child undernutrition.
5. Disseminate findings with relevant national and regional policy formulating structures.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Do you have university graduate degree in economics, statistics, demography, sociology, agriculture, nutrition or other relevant fields?
Experience: Do you have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in working with government ministries, intergovernmental organizations and NGOs?
Language: International Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a WFP working language). National Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language, if different
