Duties and Responsibilities
The general objective of supporting the adoption of a charter against FGM by religious and traditional leaders is to obtain their increased and effective commitment in accelerating the processes of developing strategies to combat harmful practices including FGM.
Specifically, this involves supporting:
- The establishment of consultation frameworks with traditional and religious leaders on the issue of FGM and other harmful practices;
- The updating or establishment of a network of traditional and religious leaders in favor of accelerating the processes of developing strategies to combat harmful practices including FGM.
- The development and adoption of a charter by which traditional and religious leaders materialize their commitment to put their knowledge and skills to the service of abandoning harmful practices including FGM.
- Immediate adherence of these actors to interventions to prevent harmful practices and FGM in the regions.
- The emergence of a common understanding of the root causes of Harmful Practices and FGM and their impact on the empowerment of women and girls, the elimination of violence against them and the realization of their rights.
- The gradual adherence of religious and traditional leaders to values that allow for the questioning of harmful social norms.
- Concrete proposals from each religious and traditional leader on the measures to be effectively taken in their respective communities to accelerate the elimination of harmful practices including FGM.
Deliverables
- Signature by at least 75% of religious and traditional leaders targeted by the approach of the charter against PP and FGM
- At least three consultation meetings between religious and traditional leaders and women’s rights organizations to accelerate the elimination of harmful parts including FGM are organized in collaboration with the Amadou Hampate Ba Foundation
- Provide a timetable for actions to be taken by religious and traditional leaders on the measures to be effectively taken in their respective communities to accelerate the elimination of harmful practices including FGM.

This is a home-based consultancy. As part of this mission, travel is planned to Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone.

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:
- Have Expertise in Community Development and Animation: Solid experience in community development, social project management or a background in working with vulnerable communities.
- Have Knowledge of Social Services and NGOs: A thorough understanding of social services, issues specific to NGOs and local authorities.
- Have a Training in Facilitation: Proven experience in designing and facilitating training programs focused on capacity building, ideally in a similar context.
- Have Teaching Skills: Ability to teach interactively, facilitate discussions and encourage participant participation.
- Have Project Management skills: Ability to effectively manage a training program, including planning, logistical organization and monitoring.

Required Skills and Experience
Education and Certification:
- Hold a Higher Education Diploma (BAC + 5 at least) in gender, sociology, economics, social sciences or a related field;
Experience :
- Have at least 2 years of experience in an associative structure and/or support for organizations defending the rights of women and children.
- Have expertise in the field of combating FGM and harmful practices
- Female candidates are particularly encouraged.
Languages:
- French is required
- La connaissance de plusieurs langues locales est un atout.
