Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of overall oversight of the National Coordinators for Making Migration Safe for Women project and overall oversight by the Deputy Country Representative, the consultant will be responsible for the following:
- Inception report including methodology and workplan developed and submitted to UN Women.
- Desk review of existing literature (qualitative and quantitative information and data) on the situation of women migrating from, to, through and back to Ethiopia.
- Analysis of relevant policy, legal framework and services related to migration governance in Ethiopia from gender perspective.
- Lead analyses including systematic document review and triangulation.
- Developing a draft report based on desk research/review, data collected and analysis with substantive findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Addressing feedback and comments received from UN Women Country Office.
- Submission of the final report to UN Women.
- Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor within the framework of the assignment as per the Terms of Reference.
- Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- University degree (Bachelor degree or equivalent, Master degree (in law, policing, security, or other related disciplines).
Experience:
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in law enforcement and other relevant fields, sound knowledge and work experience on gender equality issues and good knowledge of institutional mandates, policies and approaches as they pertain to policing, gender equality, women’s rights, survivor centered approaches.
- Experience of providing similar translation services for UN Women and/or other UN entities in relation to documents on gender equality and/or ending violence against women, with a specific focus on gender-responsive policing, would be beneficial in performing this role.
Language:
- Fluency in Amharic and English
- Experience in using MS Office (Word and Excel).
