Under the overall supervision of the SRMO and direct supervision of the Finance Officer, in close coordination with the relevant units in the Regional Office for West and Central Africa, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions:
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Assist in monitoring the financial management for all activities in the Mission including the oversight of financial expenditure and accountability. Assist in following up the implementation of effective internal controls, design and functioning of financial resources management system.
2. Ensure the accounting data is properly entered in SAP, in accordance with IOM financial rules and
practices. Maintain accurate records of PRISM entries including hard copies of all vouchers and
supporting documentation.
3. Monitor budget control process and analyze variances between budget and actual expenditures and
outstanding commitments.
4. In view of staff capacity development, the incumbent shall assist in providing technical advice and
conduct any relevant training to staff including the monthly staff induction, quarterly RM training, etc.
5. Assist in implementing and following-up the compliance and internal control monitoring tool and
ensure that the application is in place to safeguard Organization’s assets, control cash and prevent
fraud.
6. Liaise with relevant units, Administrative Centers and Regional Offices, with regard to the accounting and financial activities of the Mission, report regularly on the financial situation of the Mission and provide other information as required.
7. Perform as the Mission Accountant focal point for the month-end and year-end closure for Ghana
Mission. Plan and coordinate with the other sub-offices for the timeliness accounting closure to ensure
the full compliance of IOM’s rules and regulation.
8. As part of month end closure, the incumbent is assigned to: Monitor staff and supplier vendor accounts and make clearance as necessary
9. Analyse the monthly projectization expenditures and perform those clearing process as necessary

10. Conduct the cost analysis of office cost and maintenance charges. Follow-up with the respective staffs for the personal use and clearance of advances.
11. Perform other related duties and PRISM role as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finances, or related field with two years of
relevant professional experience.
Experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook; previous
experience in SAP is a distinct advantage;
• Attention to detail, ability to organize paperwork in a methodical way;
• Discreet, details and clients-oriented, patient and willingness to learn new things; and,
• Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skills
• Personal commitment, flexibility and ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues
from various cultures and professional background.
• Ability to work under tight timelines.
Languages Required
• For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Desirable
• Working knowledge of French is an advantage.
