The Main Hospitals serve as the principal sites for clinical training for the University’s Medical Colleges and Schools of Nursing and Midwifery in Pakistan and East Africa
To focus primarily on patient care needs that does not require licensure under the direction of team leader/delegate and the supervision of a nurse. Such care includes but is not limited to patient hygiene, oral nutritional support, and activities of daily living and may be provided both in the clinic and at home under AKU@HOME HEALTH
Responsibilities:
- May be assigned to assist in any nursing units or at home under AKUH@HOME
- Assist patients in their daily living activities; bathing, changing positions, vital signs monitoring, this may be both in the clinic or at home
- Assist patients on stretchers and wheelchairs in the clinic or at home
- Check patient’s environment for safety, cleanliness and proper functioning of equipment, to ensure compliance with quality and safety policies
- Escorts patients to various diagnostic and procedure departments
- Assists the nurse in any procedure as and when required
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the clinic Supervisor
Requirements:
- Certificate in Patient Care attendant (Nurse Aid) or Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA
- Experience as patient attendant/health care assistant or same role in a health care facility is preferred
- Empathetic towards patients of all ages
- Demonstrate polite and courteous behavior at all times
- Good communication skills
- Culturally sensitive
