Coordinate mine closure-related activities and management of environmental infrastructural projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and regulations about health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

 

  • Develop and implement mine closure and rehabilitation plans according to regulatory requirements and company policies. Coordinating with other departments to ensure that all changes to infrastructure and landforms are accurately tracked and timely updated. Preparation of Bill of Quantities (BoQs) in line with mine closure requirements. Coordinate costing updates for Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) and Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) Reports. Coordinate with external stakeholders, including government agencies, environmental consultants, and local communities, to ensure alignment on closure and rehabilitation strategies. Provide technical expertise and guidance on best practices for mine closure and rehabilitation activities. Conduct training and awareness programs for employees on mine closure and rehabilitation practices. Contract administration of projects ensuring they are implemented cost-effectively. Risk management of projects and post-construction activities. Assist in the implementation of EMS (Environmental Management System). Any other duties as directed by Superiors empowered to exercise authority over him/her.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualification:        Bachelor’s Degree
  • Professional Qualification:   Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or any related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction preferably in a mining context

BEHAVIOURAL TRAITS

  • Ability to properly manage own work with minimum supervision

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical:   Minimal
  • Computational:   GIS, AutoCAD and other modelling software
  • Oral:  Oral contacts with relevant personnel essential
  • Written:  Written skills essential in preparing reports
  • Physique:  Walking and standing ability required
  • Working Conditions:  All weather conditions.
  • Age : Below 40 years
