RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess, diagnose, manipulate and make recommendations for the management of injuries and diseases of bones, muscles and nerves
- Liaise with health facility staff in pre-operative, operative and post-operative patient care, including assisting during surgery and performing rehabilitation exercises
- Collaborate with Clinicians to respond to emergency fracture and bone medical conditions
- Liaise with Clinicians, community based staff and protection colleagues to identify, document and refer persons with medical orthopaedic needs such as mobility devices, wheelchairs, crutches and walking sticks
- Work with the district hospital orthopaedic and physiotherapy team to ensure referred clients access services
- Administer appliances to patients and train in the proper use of prosthetic and orthotic devices
- Conduct home visits to follow up with patients who have received services at the district hospital and/or who are unable to travel to the health facility
- Ensure that medical practices are conducted with the highest level of integrity and ethics according to professional and MTI Code of Conduct
- Ensure data collected is accurate and submit reports according to schedule
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS
- Diploma in Orthopaedics is required; Bachelors Degree is preferred
- Registration with Allied Health Professionals Council is required
- Valid practising license is required
EXPERIENCE
- 2 years of orthopedics experience is required
- Experience working with international NGOs is an added advantage

- Knowledge of orthopedics principles and best practices
- Knowledge of hygiene management and IPC protocol
SKILLS
- Skilled in manipulating bones and muscles
- Skilled in identifying appropriate appliances to assist patients
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including counselling patients regarding health needs
- A good command of both written and spoken English
