- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- At least 2 year experience in Payroll Processing and Management
- Certificate / Diploma in payroll administration will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire payroll process using Paywell, ensuring compliance with Zimbabwean labour laws and regulations.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of monthly payroll for all staff, including deductions for taxes, pensions, and other withholdings.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Zimbabwean taxation laws, labour regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Prepare and submit statutory returns, including PAYE, NSSA, and other relevant reports to government authorities.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of payroll accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure that payroll records are accurately maintained and reconciled with Sage Evolution accounting software.
- Supervise and mentor the payroll team fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Train staff on payroll procedures and systems to ensure proficiency and compliance.
- Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Coordinate internal and external payroll audits, providing necessary documentation and responses to inquiries.
- Implement recommendations from audits to improve payroll processes and controls.
- Address payroll-related inquiries from employees, providing guidance on payroll matters, deductions, and benefits.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure accurate employee data management and updates.
- Oversee the maintenance and optimisation of the Paywell payroll system, ensuring it meets the university’s requirements.
- Prepare payroll financial reports for management, highlighting trends, variances, and potential issues.
- Analyse payroll data to assist in budget preparation and forecasting.
POST B PAYROLL OFFICER
Qualifications and Experience

- At least 1 year post qualification experience in payroll processing.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring timely and accurate payments to all employees.
- Input and maintain accurate employee data, including new hires, terminations, and changes in pay rates.
- Ensure all payroll records are accurate and up-to-date, maintaining confidentiality of employee information.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of payroll data with Pastel and other relevant financial systems to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in resolving discrepancies and issues identified during reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with Zimbabwean labour laws, tax regulations, and university policies related to payroll.
- Prepare and submit periodic payroll reports and statutory returns, including PAYE and NSSA contributions
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, benefits, and other related matters.
- Work closely with the Human Resources department to ensure accurate employee records and timely updates regarding employment changes.
- Collaborate on matters related to employee benefits, leave accruals, and other payroll-related issues.
- Maintain organized and accurate payroll records and documentation in accordance with university policies and legal requirements.
