Job description

We are seeking a dedicated teacher who will deliver Math & Physics lessons to high school students. Under the supervision of the School Principal, he/she will create lesson plans, deliver lessons (content), facilitate discussions, administer and grade assessments/tests and homework, and provide one-on-one assistance to students as needed. He/she will also deal with students from varying backgrounds, resolve in-class conflicts, and provide feedback to students and parents.

Entry Requirements

Education/Credentials

The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education (In Physics & Math );
  • A valid Teaching License from the Ministry of Education and Sports;

Experience

The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Demonstrable experience in administering classroom management techniques;
  • Classroom teaching experience of at least three (3) years;
  • Demonstrated excellence in a variety of teaching techniques;

Knowledge, Skills and Personal attributes

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans and classroom activities;
  • Knowledge of the subject matter and curriculum standards;
  • Problem Analysis & Solving skills;
  • Ability to accommodate cognition and achievement differences;
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners;
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to student success;
  • Analytical skills to assess academic data and recommend improvements in teaching;

  • Integrity and high ethical standards;
  • Excellent communication skills to drive a productive educational experience for students;
  • Excellent large and small group presentation skills;

Expectations

The succesful candidate shall fullfill the following:

  • Should be a committed Christian with good standing in a local church;

Roles (Duties & Responsibilities)

The ideal candidate will execute a variety of roles, including:

  1. To develop lesson plans in the relevant subject area and grade; ensuring all lessons align with the curriculum objectives.
  2. To utilize a range of teaching materials and methods to deliver lessons/content.
  3. To provide additional support and interventions for struggling students (one-on-one assistance to students as needed), and extra resources to those who are ahead of the class.
  4. To prepare students for tests, exams, presentations, experiments, and other assessments.
  5. To grade assessments and provide feedback and reports to students and parents.
  6. To periodically provide helpful recommendations and voice concerns, especially during staff and parent meetings.
  7. To supervise students in class, during events, and on field trips.
  8. To assist the School Principal in monitoring students’ overall wellbeing and liaise with the Counselors and other staff members when there are concerns or issues.
  9. To manage classroom behavior and maintain discipline in accordance with the WOLIS Student Handbook; Emphasizing classroom rules and safety regulations and ensuring all students understand and follow them.
