Reporting to the Superintendent – Planning and Reliability, you will be responsible for providing Planners and Reliability team with direction in the creation of work packs and schedules for plant breakdown, routine and shutdown maintenance, maintenance strategies. Assign, coordinate and manage resources for the efficient completion of shutdown and weekly maintenance, minor & major capital projects and maintenance support service.

Your duties & Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: –

  • Ability to analyze maintenance data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams and with external vendors
  • Mentor and lead planners& reliability team to produce detailed planned work orders and schedules using the SAP CMMS.
  • Improvement in key reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR, asset availability
  • Oversee, manage and develop the creation of periodic shutdown schedules through Microsoft Project.
  • Achievement of maintenance throughput and targets in the most cost-effective manner within budgets.
  • Ensure that all planned maintenance activities are fully specified and recorded in Pronto.
  • Ensure work orders are sufficiently planned, with all resources and steps detailed to the point that a competent artisan can carry out the work.
  • Monitor work order backlogs, assign priorities and develop procedures to minimise overdue maintenance.
  • Participate in or facilitate RCA investigations and RCM reviews; subsequently update information in Pronto tasks.
  • Identify on site contractor requirements for shutdowns, distribute contractor work consistent with Barrick’s Contractor Policies and contractor capabilities.
  • Manage on site Process Maintenance contractors.
  • Keep the Superintendent Maintenance Planning & Reliability informed on progress and specific job problems.
  • Conduct regular audits and onsite inspections of planned work activities to gain efficiency and or operational planning improvement intelligence.
  • Provide personal forward workload projections, identify in advance periods of over and or under commitment.
  • Develop continuous improvement strategies and communicate and apply accordingly.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improving of maintenance processes and systems.
  • Develop and maintain the equipment strategies workflow process.

To be considered for the position, the applicant must have the following;

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Industrial Engineering.
  • Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a supervisory role in maintenance planning and Reliability of fixed plant machinery in the Mining/ Processing environment.
  • Have an excellent understanding of maintenance management principles.
  • Able to read, understand, and reference technical drawings and maintenance manuals.
  • Able to clearly demonstrate the aptitude to drive a light vehicle and hold a current Zambian driver’s licence or be able to obtain one.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and show a commitment to understand local culture and impart your mining operations and technical knowledge to the local Zambian mine operations personnel.
  • Competent in incident/accident investigation
  • Commitment to training of Zambian national citizens
  • Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.
  • Experience in managing costs and budgeting
  • Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas
