A Procurement and Logistics intern in CISONECC is responsible for managing and optimizing the procurement and logistics processes to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of the organization. This role is vital in ensuring that essential resources and materials are acquired and distributed to support the organization’s mission and projects effectively.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Procurement Management:
- Support development and implementation of procurement policies and procedures in compliance with the organization’s guidelines and legal requirements.
- Support identification and evaluation of potential suppliers and contractors.
- Ensure cost-effective and ethical procurement practices, considering quality and value for money.
- Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
- Support management and monitoring of inventory levels to ensure adequate stock for ongoing operations.
- Support implementation of supply chain strategies to streamline processes and reduce costs.
- Optimize inventory turnover and minimize wastage.
- Vendor and Supplier Relations:
- Support fostering and maintenance of strong relationships with service providers, and vendors.
- Continuously assess supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Support preparation and management of the procurement and logistics budget.
- Support identification of cost-saving opportunities and implement cost control measures.
- Logistics and Distribution:
- Support planning and coordination of the transportation of staff, goods and materials.
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of supplies to project sites and organizational facilities.
- Support management of the distribution network to optimize delivery routes.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure that all procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Support maintenance of accurate and organized records of all procurement and logistics transactions.
- Support preparation and submission of reports as required by regulatory agencies or donors.
- Risk Management:
- Support identification and mitigation of potential risks in the procurement and logistics process.
- Support development of contingency plans for supply chain disruptions or emergencies.
- Sustainability and Social Responsibility:
- Promote environmentally sustainable and socially responsible procurement practices.
- Seek opportunities to support local and disadvantaged communities through procurement.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to enhance procurement and logistics processes and systems.
- Implement best practices and technology solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
