To generate and research ideas for programs, source on-air contributors, write and develop scripts, select music for the show and listen to recordings to edit them into stories or segments.
MAIN DUTIES
- Oversee all areas of the station’s programming, including management, supervision, and development of programming staff,
- Ensure that high quality of production and presentation is maintained in programmes with appropriate support, advice and regular feedback to broadcasters,
- Evaluate programmes to ensure they meet station objectives, broadcasting regulations, copyright requirements,
- Ensure that appropriate processes are in place for the selection and scheduling of programs, programme development, and provide opportunities for new ideas and broadcasting talent to develop,
- Ensure that appropriate strategies are in place for programme and broadcasting resources, making sure that these are managed effectively for all staff and broadcasters,
- Ensure that broadcasters receive appropriate initial and ongoing training and co-ordinate training strategies,
- Liaise with Marketing and Sales in identifying promotional opportunities related to programmes, income generating events and programme related marketing projects,
- Prepare reports and provide advice as required on any aspect of programming or broadcasting,
- Produce content using contemporary software meeting industry standards,
- Any other duties that may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Grade Twelve Certificate
- Degree in Mass communications
- Three (3) years experience
