In This Role You Will:
Production Geology Planning
- Undertake geological mapping activities to enhance the understanding of geological controls of mineralisation, and ore and waste delineation.
- Oversee the refreshing of mark outs in the mining area by the Grade Control Geologist.
- Coordinate the design and processing of blast movement parameters.
- Review bench sampling area.
- Assist in the development of all Mine Geology Standard Operating Procedures.
Production Geology Execution
- Manage and refine procedures and methodologies employed to govern selective mining.
- Reconcile daily mined tonnage versus dispatch tonnes and find solutions to variances.
- Conduct periodic sampling studies for continuous improvement.
- Assist with monthly reconciliation processes to reconcile planned with actual production data.
- Confirm polygon compliance against data captured to determine mining accuracy.
- Check for misrouting of material, investigate root cause and recommend potential solutions and / or systems adjustments to ensure that future misrouting is eliminated.
- Liaise with Drill and Blast to agree on blast design, with less detrimental impact on ore quality.
- Work with Short Term Planning Engineers to factor in geological standards into the planning process (i.e., mining direction and blast and sequence).
Reserve Conversion Drilling
- Supervise the execution of reserve conversion drilling.
- Carry out geological logging of drill holes including geotechnical and structural data capture.
- Assist with the geological modeling process.
Production Geology Data Analysis
- Coordinate the collation of data from Samplers / Lab and carry out sampling studies.
- Manage the timely and accurate collection of geological information to optimize Ore production.
- Report daily ore production data accurately.
- Channel blast movement designs data processing for review by the Chief Mine Geologist / Geology Area Mine Manager.
Team Leadership
- Provide guidance and expertise to Grade Control Geologists, Geological Technicians and Samplers prior to production.
- Coordinate all Production Geology activities and dispatch work schedules for the Geological Technicians and Samplers.
- Facilitate training of Grade Control Geologists.
Work Scheduling and Allocation
- Communicate with Mine Production personnel daily to prevent dilution during ore loading.
- Develop daily work schedule and assign work to other staff to expedite workflow and accomplish high priority tasks, as needed.
- Establish short-term activities directed toward work continuity.
- Exercise considerable judgment in establishing job priorities.
Health and Safety Management
- Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every employee under or assigned to his/her supervision.
