KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
- Ensure Safety and Environmental incidents are immediately reported, immediately controlled and appropriately escalated to relevant Supervisors & Managers.
- Drive the site equipment, people and processes to maximize production.
- Monitor and control all plant parameters to exceed the main plant KPI’s of throughput, recovery and product quality.
- Ensure equipment is operated within defined operating strategies and procedures.
- Ensure high utilization of the plant through auto control system and other critical control loops.
- Maintain high utilization of critical in-line instrumentation & measurement (ie pH, conductivity Pressure) for real-time performance optimization.
- Set and maintain high standards of plant control minimize bypasses and downtime.
- Execute daily operating instructions issued by day leaders (operations, metallurgists, and maintenance) and escalate when they cannot be achieved.
- Ensure all appropriate performance deviations are promptly escalated by shift supervisors (operations and maintenance) to relevant Superintendent and Managers.
- Assist in planning for major plant shutdowns, maintenance activities and start-ups.
- Direct the Shift Maintenance Supervisor(s) on maintenance priority.
- Coach shift personnel, supervise subordinates
- Provide performance feedback and reports to Supervisors, and shift teams.
- Understand impacts of decisions (production, quality, cost & risk) to constantly deliver optimum business solutions.
- Conduct detailed handovers.
- Provide detailed shift plant performance reports.

- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Gold Plant Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Diploma in Metallurgy / Chemical Engineering or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 6 months relevant experience in process plants
