Tanganyika Plywood LTD (TPL) produces plywood for the local and regional markets in East Africa. It uses sustainable plantation materials, specifically eucalyptus and pine. The company has been operating for 8 years and is now looking for a dynamic production manager to achieve it growth goals. The company is located in Mafinga, Tanzania and the project post is for a full-time position on site.
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Plant Manager to join our team. As a Plant Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing our manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for setting production goals, managing resources, and ensuring the efficient and high-quality production of our products. Responsibilities
• Management of technical team: Ensuring implementation of maintenance planning and scheduling.
• Operational Oversight: Manage daily operations, ensuring efficiency and quality in plywood production.
• Technical Expertise: Drive best practices, troubleshoot issues, and recommend technological upgrades.
• Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to guarantee plywood meets set specifications.
• Maintenance Management: Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure continuous operation.
• Safety & Compliance: Uphold safety standards and ensure adherence to all regulatory guidelines.
• Team Leadership: Mentor and manage the technical team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
• Team Building assist in hiring and recruiting of other members of your technical team.
• Budgeting: Monitor operational expenses and suggest cost-saving initiatives.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate with management, vendors, and external consultants about plant performance and needs.
• Documentation: Keep technical documents updated and prepare periodic performance reports. Help attain ISO and FSC certification standards.
• Project Oversight: Lead plant-related technical projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant execution.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree minimum – preferable in engineering
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role with management responsibilities
• Computer skills with proficiency in MS Office
• Strong problem solver, with hands-on approach to plan and execute well
• Growth mindset and the ability to self-learn and teach others
