The project manager will support the execution of a multi-year private sector development program that aims to dramatically improve the SME investment ecosystem across East Africa. S/he will work with senior members of the team to ensure the project is implemented to Renew Capital’s standards, and also support training and other office administration tasks as needed. The project manager will also support a global implementation team ensuring that project outcomes specific to Renew Capital’s Malawi presence are being achieved and documented.
Successful candidates will have a strong background in business and project management. S/he will be comfortable working in frontier markets, learning and working with foreign cultures, adaptive and emotionally intelligent, patient and an excellent communicator.
Successful candidates will also be strong trainers, exceptional writers and capable of handling data analysis. S/he will receive comprehensive onboarding and critical support from Renew Capital’s leadership team and will be involved in a high-impact role creating significant social and financial impact on the continent.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the execution of a key development project by achieving results and meticulously delivering on all project milestones
- Participating in the development and ongoing maintenance of a collaborative company-wide M&E and reporting system that effectively captures the social impact of the firm, particularly in the area of gender equality
- Facilitating conversations across diverse groups of stakeholders
- Helping to develop and facilitate Renew Capital’s core gender-smart programs by training SMEs both virtually and in-person
- Working with the project lead to prepare project reports for clients that demonstrate Renew Capital’s social impact results in a compelling and beautiful manner
- Managing internal communications progress meetings
- Reporting to and collaborating with Renew Capital’s management team on a regular basis to continuously improve SOPs and efficiency in delivering project results
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or development is preferred
- 5+ years experience in management consulting and/or finance. Consulting experience in both the private sector and with an international development firm focused on gender equality is a plus
- A keen eye for detail and sharp analytical skills
- Ability to meet project deadlines and achieve or exceed required results in collaboration with teams
- Experience working on grant-based projects
- Proficiency in writing reports in English
- Strong project management skills – certification in project management is a plus
- Exposure to the finance or private equity world
- Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
