Job description

Deliver high-quality, on-time implementation of Zero Waste projects across sites, ensuring coherence across
workstreams and strong execution discipline.
Strengthen city and community systems for waste prevention, segregation, recovery, and organics management,
while improving livelihoods and inclusion where relevant.
Build and sustain strategic partnerships that enable operational delivery, policy traction, and the long-term
sustainability of zero-waste solutions.
Generate credible data, learning, and documentation that make the portfolio replication-ready for scaling across
African contexts.
Position Roles and Responsibilities
Deploy a minimum viable data and measurement system for waste diversion and circular economy outcomes
(collection and sorting data, organics processed, e-waste handled, plastics diverted, and methane avoidance
proxies), ensuring consistent reporting across sites.
Strengthen city and community implementation partnerships: secure working arrangements with municipal
authorities, waste service actors, informal sector/waste picker groups, market and community leadership, and local
businesses.
Improve operational performance of key interventions (segregation-at-source, MRF operations, composting sites,
and safe e-waste collection and take-back points) through weekly implementation reviews, troubleshooting, and
coaching.
Design and execute a structured engagement approach for frontline stakeholders (communities, schools, markets,
restaurants, and SMEs), including behavior-change campaigns and feedback loops that inform continuous
improvement.
Coordinate a portfolio learning review and produce at least one replication-ready knowledge product (case study,
implementation guide, or policy brief) that documents lessons and readiness conditions for scaling.
Support the Director in packaging pipeline partnerships and donor-ready materials by maintaining accurate project
documentation, tracking budgets vs. spend inputs, and documenting evidence of impact and demand.
Develop and maintain annual work plans and quarterly delivery micro-plans with clear milestones, dependencies,
responsible parties, and deadlines.
Maintain a live delivery tracker covering outputs, outcomes, risks, decisions required, and follow-up actions across
all sites.
Convene routine implementation check-ins (weekly internal, and as needed with external partners) and ensure
action points are documented and completed.
Ensure delivery aligns with approved budgets and plans; identify deviations early and implement corrective actions
with the Director and Operations team

Experience and Competencies

At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in zero waste, solid waste management, circular economy,
environmental management, or related fields.
Demonstrated experience managing multi-stakeholder projects (government/municipal, community, private sector,
and informal sector actors).
Proven people management experience (direct supervision of teams and coordination of multiple workstreams).
Strong practical understanding of plastics management, e-waste systems, organics/composting operations, and
community-based waste models.
Ability to translate strategy into workplans, trackers, SOPs, and reporting systems; strong delivery discipline.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including comfort working with basic waste data and performance
dashboards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident facilitation and stakeholder engagement capability.
Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (Docs/Slides/Sheets, Word/PowerPoint/Excel).

Required Competencies

Strong coordination and delivery discipline (planning, sequencing, tracking, follow-through, risk management).
Strong team leadership with a coaching mindset and clear accountability boundaries.
Strong stakeholder management skills across diverse actors and interests.
Technical fluency across zero-waste workstreams and the ability to supervise technical implementation.
Strong documentation and reporting skills; able to synthesize learning and communicate clearly.
