The project officer provides overall support in the implementation of safeguarding maternal health project activities in the targeted community. S/he reports to Team Lead, Special Projects.
Key responsibilities
- Support project coordinator in the planning of safeguarding maternal health project activities.
- Build the capacity for community health workers in understanding the safeguarding maternal health project.
- Support the quality implementation and delivery of services in the community by the community health workers engaged under safeguarding maternal health project.
- Supervise and monitor safeguarding maternal health project activities, namely community health education, multi-diseases screening, and linkage at the targeted community.
- Monitor all project activities being implemented by the community health workers in the targeted community through regular calls and periodic field visits.
- Facilitate workshops on maternal and child health care at the targeted community level.
- Conduct education/sensitization campaigns on nutritional care, immunization, and antenatal and postnatal care for the targeted community members
- Establish, maintain close and effective contacts with community members, local authorities, MOHS, and other appropriate government agencies engaged in health-related programs.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of project activities and results.
- Document project successes, lessons learned, and success stories from project sites.

Qualification/experience
Essential
Must hold a bachelor’s degree in either Nursing, Public Health, Community Health, other health sciences or its equivalence
Desirable
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and computer skills
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with proven ability to organize workload and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with adult training approaches and solid workshop and meeting facilitation skill
