Job Title: Project Officer: Communications and Knowledge Management
Number of Vacancies: One (1)
Duty Station: Project Offices in Karenga District
Duration: Five (5) years ‐ Full‐time with a probationary period of six (6) months
Purpose of the job
The primary objective of the Project Officer: Communications and Knowledge management is to support the project in promoting and publicizing its activities and outputs. Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Officer: Communications and Knowledge management is responsible for the publicity of the project activities including the development and implementation of the projects communication strategy.
Responsibilities and tasks
- Developing and implementing a communication strategy for the project that includes media outreach and social media content creation.
- Researching and writing press releases, and content for the MoTWA and UWA
website, infographics, blogs, and newsletters.
iii. Organising and coordinating press conferences, and plan events. iv. Evaluating results of communication campaigns with the team.
- Building and maintaining relationships with journalists and key external stakeholders.
Qualifications and experience
Education
- An Honours degree in either Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field from a recognized University/Institution.
- A postgraduate qualification in any of the above fields is an added advantage
Experience
- At least three (3) years’ experience in communications journalism, public relations from a reputable organization.
Knowledge and skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
iii. Very good inter-personal skills;
- High degree of initiative, flexibility and creativity;
- Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, and related business and communication tools;
- Content writing experience for all media platforms;
vii. Proven social media and networking expertise.
