The National Association of Young People Living with HIV, also known as Y+ Malawi, was established in 2014 and registered in 2017 under the Office of the President and Cabinet. According to the association’s constitution, the central objective of Y+ is to empower, advocate and demand the provision of quality HIV and AIDS treatment, care, and support services for young people living with HIV to bring this often-marginalized constituency to its full potential as articulated in the National Youth Policy.
The Project Officer (Project lead) –AIDSFONDS project ensures that all Y+ Malawi-related activities in the AIDSFONDS project are implemented according to the project. This will include planning and implementation of activities in the two districts of Mangochi and Chikwawa and liaising with the National Coordinator.
Project Officer (Project lead) –AIDSFONDS Project is responsible for the following:
- Plan activities monitor the overall progress and initiate corrective action as appropriate.
- Providing the National Coordinator with relevant reports on project performance.
- Ensure the delivery of quality, timely and within budget activities to the appropriate levels of quality according to the plans outlined in the project agreement.
- Liaise with the district-level structures such as Y plus district chapters in the delivery of project activities
- Build, manage and motivate the project teams including change markers and youth support groups for the achievement of project activities
- Communicate with all relevant stakeholders at the district level for the smooth running of the project.
- Communicate and work closely with the National Coordinator to develop work plans and quarterly expenditures forecasts.
- Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the National Coordinator
Jobs Skills and Qualifications required
- Degree or diploma in public health, social work, project management and other related field of study
- At least over two years of experience in project management and working with young people.
- Deep technical knowledge of HIV and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) programming especially for young people
- Strong leadership youth leadership experience and skills
- Excellent organisation, oral and written communication skills
- Excellent skills in networking with local structures governing youth activities at district levels
- Report and proposal writing skills
- Experience and knowledge in advocacy with government and civil society decision markers.
