Task Responsibilities
Safeguarding risk assessment and action planning
• To support project implementation teams to complete country, project & partner risk assessments and accompanying action plans.
• To give ongoing advice to project teams on how to adapt assessments and plans in the light of changing contexts. Safeguarding reporting & incident management
• Monitor incident reporting and escalation
• Provide direct support to project teams on safeguarding incident management, as needed.
Safeguarding learning & training
• To identify learning and training needs of project staff and support the development of plans to meet those needs.
• To accompany project staff in their understanding of safeguarding and how to continuously improve their practice.
• To act as lead safeguarding trainer in thedelivery of VSO’s learning curriculum across project teams.
Liaison and networking
• To maintain knowledge of latest debates and initiatives on safeguarding and act as a source of advice on robust safeguarding practice across VSO’s project teams.
Competence required Experience
• Demonstrable experience in child protection, PSEA and safeguarding experience of high-volume casework management
• Ability to analyse and synthesise complex information
• Experience of providing confidential and sensitive pastoral support
• Experience of working in a cross-cultural context
Knowledge/qualification
• Demonstrable up to date knowledge and understanding of safeguarding best practice
• Undertaken recognised safeguarding & child protection training
• Safeguarding Investigation training
Skills/abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Coaching skills
• Ability to manage substantial and rapidly changing workload
• Being able to develop, manage and maintain efficient systems and process
• Strong facilitation skill and ability to deliver training to a diverse audience, including online
• Ability to take initiative and be proactive
• Ability to undertake occasional international travel
