To plan, implement and manage Public Relations programmes and activities in line with the Corporation’s overall objectives and strategic goals.
1.2 MAIN DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB HOLDER
The main duties and responsibilities s for the job holder will be to:
i. Develop and implement communication and media outreach campaign strategies and plans in order to raise public awareness on the activities of the Corporation in line with the Corporation’s strategic
objectives;
ii. Co-ordinate and organize all information and communication activities and programmes in line with the Corporation’s strategic priorities;
iii. Create and manage the Corporation’s communication media tools content such as pamphlets, brochures, website and ensure that the information is up-to-date;
iv. Manage media relations as well as develop a network of media personnel;
v. Prepare responses to media and queries raised by members of the public or other persons or interest groups, and issue press statements on behalf of the Corporation, upon approval by the Managing Director;
vi. Prepare medium term work plans and expedite their framework and budget to put into effect, the Corporation’s activities on communication and stakeholder engagement;
vii. Manage strategic engagements for the Corporation and recommend improvements for improving the same in line with Corporation’s strategic goals;
viii. Provide an indication of matters that are of interest to the Corporation,
i.e. monitoring media activities in the country and region which have an impact of the operations of the Corporation vis-à-vis public perception and provide an indication of the same to the Corporation;
ix. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports detailing activities of the Unit; and
x. Perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the superior from time to time.
1.3 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
▪ Full Grade twelve (12) Certificate or equivalent.
▪ Degree in Mass communication, Public Relations or its equivalent.
▪ Master of Communication, Public Relations or equivalent is an added advantage.
▪ Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience.
• Reputable experience in Public Relations.
• Good writing and interpersonal skills.
• Member of the Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communication
(ZIPRC) with a valid practising licence.
