Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) Manager – FS (Fixed Term Contract) to join the versatile Mineral Resource Management – FS Section. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Feasibility Manager, you will be responsible for managing and performing the daily QA and QC responsibilities to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with the established standards and specifications; direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the workflow processes and coordination with personnel, contractors and suppliers to provide and document a quality project.

 Your duties will include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Leads planning, development, and implementation of the Project Quality Control Management Plan and system for all work divisions from notice to proceed through final customer acceptance.
  • Oversee the Engineering and Construction contractor to ensure compliance with the Project Control and Management Plan for all engineering and construction activities.
  • Establishes and leads quality control initiatives, activities, and corrective actions.
  • Reviews project specifications for project quality requirements and ensures work performed on-site and off-site complies with project requirements.
  • Reviews shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary.
  • Coordinate the approval of material submittals and track the status of approval to completion.
  • Conducts weekly QC meetings with the superintendents and provides daily QC reports as described in project documents.
  • Manages Non-Conformance Notices and the Request for Information process through corrective action.
  • Manages and resolves quality issues in conjunction with the project superintendent and the project manager.
  • Records daily quality control observations on all construction activities in daily inspection logs and takes photos of the progress.
  • Creates, updates and maintains project submittal logs and all other project-specific quality control reports.
  • Conducts preparatory, initial and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of Construction desired for each definable work package.
  • Verifies and documents that all materials received for the project are in conformance with approved submittals, and project specifications.
  • Verifies all onsite materials are handled and stored properly for use on the project.
  • Conducts pre-construction QA/QC meetings with the superintendents and all contractors prior to the start of each new work package.
  • Documents and maintains project-specific test and inspection logs. Ensures testing facilities, laboratories, and equipment conform to specification requirements. Verifies testing procedures meet requirements, calibrations are current, and reviews/verify test reports meet contract requirements.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure that the Three-Phase Process is integrated into project schedules.
  • Provide oversight to contractors and project team members to ensure that construction activities are completed according to design.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
  • Bachelor of Engineering/Architecture/Construction Management/Engineering Technology/Building Construction/Building Science or equivalent
  • Member of the EIZ, NCCZ or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience relevant construction experience as a Quality Control Supervisor or Project Superintendent for minimum ($10 million or more) construction projects
  • Experience in the mining industry, with specific experience in Project Implementation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. good written and verbal communication skills and Team skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and good communicator
  • Must be familiar with safe working practices.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s Licence.
