Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School Public Health (MakSPH) is undertaking a survey entitled “Exploring the facilitators and barriers of coverage, access, and use of HPV vaccination services among girls aged 10-14 years in Uganda”. This study will be conducted in the districts of Amuru, Masindi, Kyenjojo, Kasese, Rubirizi, Mpigi, Buvuma, Kyotera, Masaka and Rewampara. We are recruiting for persons who can work as Research Assistants to be attached to this study. Only 5 positions are available.
Key Responsibilities:
The Research Assistants shall:
- Participate in data collection activities.
- Administer informed consent, conduct and complete interviews following the study protocol, and answer questions that the respondents may ask before or during data collection.
- Provide investigators/supervisors with daily updates.
- Be responsible for data collection and data management processes, including validation, to ensure quality data collection/quality of data elements/data editing.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the core investigator(s).
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Public Health, Statistics, and any other related discipline.
Experience, skills, and other requirements:
- Prior experience in conducting qualitative surveys.
- Proficiency in English (both spoken and written) as well as local languages in the respective districts.
- Demonstrable capacity to conduct high-quality in-depth interviews, including samples of de-identified transcripts.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to spend time away from home.
- Ability to work under stringent deadlines and independently with minimal supervision.
- Should have over five years’ experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection methods.
- Must be willing to work in any part of Uganda.
- Possession of a certificate of completion course on protecting human research. participants/good clinical practice.
