Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology; or Entomology; or Applied Biology; or Biology; or Vector Biology; or Animal Health and Production; or Animal Production and Management; or Geographical Sciences and Management from a recognized University/Institution
Working Experience
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Senior Research Officer for performing the following duties:-
-Coordinating the implementation of programmes and strategies for establishing Trypanosomiasis prevalence and elimination of trypanosomiasis;
-Providing technical support to Government Departments; Non-Governmental organizations and community groups involved in tsetse and trypanosomiasis research and control in Uganda;
-Liaising with and sharing approaches and innovations with national bodies working on tsetse and trypanosomiasis control and eradication activities;
Providing technical support and participating in planning, implementation, monitoring, support supervision and evaluation of the African trypanosomiasis and the tsetse flies control and eradication activities;
-Studying the characteristics of insects and their interactions with other species, environment, reproduction, population dynamics, diseases, and movement patterns.
– Coordinating conduction of research on interactions between hosts; parasites; vectors and the environment in neglected tropical diseases caused by Trypanosomiasis;
-Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
