Responsible for effective coordination of district-level planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of the Lean season response project in Dedza. This includes ensuring implementation of the project activities are carried out in line with the work plan and budget, and timely submission of reports.  S/he will work closely with response field Facilitators and report to the Project Manager.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective coordination of project activities on a day-to-day basis.
  • Support Project Manager to implement and monitor district-level work plan and budget, in line with project log frame, agreed deliverables, and resources.
  • Support Project Manager to deliver expert technical support and guidance in all aspects of project implementation and budgets. This is particularly in terms of community-based management, stakeholder coordination, capacity building, and gender equality into the implementation of the project.
  • Ensure close collaboration and networking with all district partners, including government and communities, in liaison with other SHA projects, during all stages of project implementation.
  • Coordinate with response field facilitators to ensure that the various aspects of the response Program are integrated in the project implementation.
  • Support establishment and implementation of response monitoring and evaluation methodologies including data collection
  • Ensure implementation of project activities in line with SHA safeguarding policy and procedures. This includes ensuring promotion of a positive culture of openness and transparent where team members are able to raise concerns.
  • Support the integration of women’s empowerment and leadership; accountability; and SHA mainstreaming issues (Environmental Management, Gender and Social Inclusion, Protection, HIV/AIDs, disability, etc.) throughout all aspects of the project cycle.
  • Develop and submit weekly updates and monthly monitoring and documentation reports to Project Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in response related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in Project coordination role (experience in emergency and general food distribution is a must)

Required Skills:

  • Skills and experience in project/program planning, delivery, monitoring, reporting, review and evaluation
  • Experience in working in complex emergencies or challenging security settings and within security management frameworks.
  • Ability to produce timely and high-quality reports
  • Strong planning and budgets skills and experience.
  • Extensive experience of targeting and working with disadvantaged people in Malawian society.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English, Chichewa, including good English report writing skills.
  • Demonstrable understanding of safeguarding risks and mitigating actions.
  • Well-refined people management, team working and interpersonal skills.
  • A full clean motorcycle riding license
