KEY RESULT AREAS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) Participate in the preparation of plans and strategies for the effective assessment and
management of risks
(ii) Participate in developing appropriate tools for monitoring operational risk exposures
(iii) Review and assess inherent risks within new processes and systems and make relevant
recommendations to the Manager
(iv) Review existing processes and system to identify risk exposures and recommend appropriate
mitigation measures
(v) Provide technical support to the underwriting and claims and reinsurance departments in the
assessment and management of risks associated with the services they render
(vi) Undertake sensitization/training of staff on operational risk control
(vii) Record in a database, all incidents of risk reported from operational areas and prepare
periodic and ad hoc incident reports; analyzing the causes and recommending appropriate
control measures
(viii) Prepare periodic and ad hoc operational risk reports as advised by the Manager
(ix) Monitor developments in the environment and identify potential risk exposures.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Minimum Academic and/or Professional Qualifications Necessary

Minimum of a University Degree in Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Commerce
Additional Training/Qualifications/Certification Necessary
 Possession of relevant professional qualifications such as Certified Risk Management
Professional; or a professional qualification in insurance at the level of Diploma CII or its
equivalent
 Experience in risk management, audit or underwriting, in reputable organizations is an added
advantage.
