By Sub-contract by Volkswagen Mobility Solution Rwanda as a recruitment and staff management company, We are looking for a young professional with a background in training and project management to join our team on a 6-month contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading the implementation of road safety improvements identified in the audit.
  • Developing and delivering training programs for our drivers and staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with local and international road safety standards.
  • Building a sustainable safety culture within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership:

  • Lead the implementation of the Road Safety Improvement Plan based on the 5 Pillar Audit findings.
  • Develop and execute a detailed project plan to address gaps in driver management, vehicle management, journey management, health & safety, and organizational policies.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of road safety initiatives to senior management.

Training Development and Delivery:

  • Design and prepare training materials for drivers and staff, focusing on defensive driving, vehicle maintenance, route hazard awareness, and emergency response.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for drivers on a recurrent basis to ensure continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments.

Policy Development:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of road safety policies, including Driver Recruitment Policy, Health & Safety Policy, Drug & Alcohol Policy, and Emergency Response Plan.
  • Ensure all policies are aligned with local legislative requirements and international best practices.

Driver and Vehicle Management:

  • Work with the operations team to improve driver recruitment, onboarding, and performance management processes.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure vehicles meet safety standards and maintenance schedules are adhered to.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Implement a system to monitor driver behavior and vehicle performance using GPS/IVMS technology.
  • Conduct regular audits and spot checks to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Prepare monthly reports on road safety performance and present findings to senior management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Transport Management, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in road safety, training, or a related field.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs is a plus.
  • Fresh graduates with a strong academic background and passion for road safety are encouraged to apply.
  • Driving License is mandatory

Skills:

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of GPS/IVMS systems is an advantage.
